Sun, Mar 2 - Birding Sepilok

(Note:  we have internet here but uploading photos takes so long that I needed a few days to do it!)

Sun, Mar 2 - We got up again at 5 AM and joined the others at 5:45 for breakfast, and off in the bus back to the Rainforest Discovery Center.  The sky was clear and the temperature in the high 80s and very humid as usual  We saw many new birds from the towers and walkways.

Pale-bellied Giant Squirrel - ~32"
We returned to the lodge at 11 as our driver had to pick up some other clients at the airport.  This meant that we had the afternoon off!  We checked email, napped and organized our gear as we leave tomorrow.  At three Rose Ann appeared at our chalet to say that she and John had spotted a Green Broadbill by their room and she would lead us to it.  We dashed over and managed to catch a glimpse of this tiny emerald bird shaped like a miniature football!

We showered, changed clothes and met the other at 6:30 for a little owling.  Rose Ann played a tape of the  Brown Boobook, a small brown and white owl with large yellow eyes, and one answered close by and we managed to get a spotlight on him and enjoyed good views.  We walked around for another hour getting a lot of responses to her tape of the Sunda Scops Owl and finally managed to get a pretty good glimpse of it  Finally at 7:40 we went into dinner.  I had fried seafood noodles and another tapioca pudding.
Colorful mats on our ceiling

Tomorrow we have to have our bags outside our room by 5;45.  We are going to bird the towers again, come back for lunch and leave for our next destination.
